Christmas Tree & Electronics Recycling Day January 9th

Dec 07, 2015 8 years ago

Don’t throw your Christmas tree away! Instead, bring your trees to Clark Park along Chester Ave. on Saturday, January 9th from 10am-4pm and have them recycled into wood chip mulch to be used in the park and in community gardens. While you’re waiting for the chipper to fire up, enjoy free roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate, plus shop for goods at the Clark Park Farmers' Market. A $10 donation per tree will go towards supporting UC Green programs.

And did you get a new flat screen television for the holidays? Drop off your old one for recycling, along with any other obsolete household electronics from 10am-2pm. Be confident that any potentially harmful materials will be disposed of properly by eForce Recycling, Philadelphia's first Certified Responsible Recycler. Residents and small businesses with fewer than 50 employees can drop off anything with a plug, except smoke detectors, large appliances (like washers and dryers and refrigerators), and projection TVs. There will be a $20 charge to dispose of CRT (tube) TVs and computer monitors. This event is sponsored by UC Green and UCD.
