White House Announces Promise Zones

University City District is proud to be among the organizations and City agencies collaborating for the recently announced Promise Zone - one of five localities throughout the United States designated by President Obama. Philadelphia's designation is an area encompassing many West Philadelphia neighborhoods, including parts of University City.

As a part of the Promise Zone, UCD will continue working to improve economic vitality and quality of life in the University City area of Philadelphia, by investing in world-class public spaces, addressing crime and public safety, bringing life to commercial corridors, connecting low-income residents to careers, and promoting job growth and innovation.
