Everyone loves a good prix-fixe deal, and University City Dining Days has more than 30 of the city’s best, running from Thursday, July 14 through Sunday, July 24.

Now in its 12th year, the celebration of the neighborhood’s restaurants offers (at least) three-course dinner menus for $15, $25 or $35.

Like many restaurant weeks, UC Dining Days was designed to attract clientele during customarily slow times of year, e.g., when lots of students have packed it up for the year.

With the success if this event, though summer is now the time to visit University City and its richly diverse eating scene.

Participating restaurants truly display the neighborhood’s delicious variety — from barbecue to hand drawn noodles, vegan fast food to high-end locavore steaks, artisan pizza to gastropub comfort food, Garces to Starr.

No matter the venue, the value is excellent: At long-running favorite Pattaya Grillone can enjoy lemongrass soup, beef red curry and fried banana for $15. At Han Dynasty, a spicy Szechuan meal of dan dan noodles and double-cooked fish can be completed with Sugar Philly macarons for $25.

And at the legendary White Dog Café, the four course spread includes tuna tartare, grilled corn flatbread, harissa lamb over lima bean falafel and selection of seasonal desserts, plus there’s an optional wine and beer pairing for an additional $15.

Reservations are recommended for the finer-dining choices.
