Streetscape Improvements

University City District designs, installs, and maintains streetscape improvements like pedestrian plazas and small public interventions that make the environment appealing to pedestrians, transit-users, bicyclists, and drivers.

Our public space enhancements and interventions, ranging from signature spaces like The Porch at 30th Street Station and Trolley Portal Gardens to small pedestrian plazas and seating options, have set the standard in the neighborhood.

We create lively public venues designed to reactivate underutilized areas, foster community connections, and spark interactions. We work from conceptualization and design to construction and then the spaces are maintained by our in-house Green Team.

When we’re not designing and installing spaces ourselves, we also consult on projects and serve as a connector to City permitting for groups seeking to develop their own interventions including Parklets, outdoor seating, and daylighting projects.

Visitors enjoy swings and greenery at The Porch at 30th Street Station, with people walking and relaxing in the vibrant public space.
