We are very excited to begin 2024 by sharing the exciting news that the Hummingbird Foundation, the New Jersey-based charitable organization that helped us launch WPSI University in 2023, has continued its support of the Skills Initiative with a new gift of $500,000 over two years.

The initial $150,000 investment from Hummingbird in January of 2023 allowed us to launch WPSI University as a way to offer continued workplace education and academic advancement for WPSI graduates, equipping them with the tools and credentials they need to advance in the 21st-century workplace. This additional gift allows us to continue and expand on the work of WPSI University, which is comprised of three interconnected functions:

  • Continuing education and credentialing partnerships with employers to assist their “incumbent workers” in moving up the job ladder through internal promotions.
  • The creation of a network of partnerships with local colleges and the launch of comprehensive alumni coaching services that allow WPSI graduates with some college credit but no degree to return to school online in order to complete their bachelor’s degree and augment their earning power in the workforce.
  • Expansion of the WPSI Scholars, a competitive program that offers last-dollar scholarships to WPSI alumni to enroll in academic and workforce education programs. Click here to read more about our 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes of WPSI Scholars.

We offer our sincere thanks to the Hummingbird Foundation for their renewed support for our work and commitment to our graduates. We look forward to sharing more positive news from the Skills Initiative throughout 2024!
