UCD Presents The Green Giving Challenge

The leaves may be changing colors, but at University City District, we’re thinking green.

This giving season, UCD is raising funds to maintain green space throughout the District by our Green Team. The Green Team was formed to focus exclusively on greening the neighborhood, by bringing their expertise and care to make sure that The Porch at 30th Street Station and 40th Street Trolley Portal Gardens are beautiful, welcoming urban oases, while also maintaining planters and pedestrian plazas throughout the neighborhood and assisting in community cleanup days.

Thanks to a generous contribution by founding board member and community activist Barry Grossbach, each dollar contributed by the community for greening in University City will be matched up to $25,000. Barry and his late husband Mike Hardy always valued community landscapes and the neighborhood at large, and the work of our Green Team is a continuation of Mike's years of gardening, tree planting, and greening of the neighborhood.
